holy hell

Just wanted to reassure people that I'm not suicidal or anything. This really, really sucks, but we'll get through it. I think.

I'm quite confused, though. The GOP got as close to a mandate as a party could hope for, no question about that. But when people were polled on so many of the issues, they disagreed with the conservative position. I'm too lazy to dig up the numbers now, but Gallup said last week that support for invading Iraq has dropped significantly, and in terms of environment, gun control, choice, the majority were closer to the Dem's position. I know, lies, damned lies and statistics, but these were the same pollsters who gauged which way the elections would go. If you believe something, why don't you vote that way? Poli sci majors, please explain.

Sigh. I wish I knew what political victory felt like.
